It is the Grand Canyon National Park better than the West Bank?

Grand Canyon National Park East is better than the West Coast?

The hardest part of choosing a tour of the Grand Canyon, you decide to visit the south or west. Both are fantastic places. Thus, in an effort to break this link, I’ll make a quick assessment of the tire rim to make sure that together with the place that suits you.

Search for activities or landscapes?

The West Rim stands out in fun activities based. This is the only place where you can drive a helicopter 4,000 feet to the bottom. So if you’re so inclined, you can walk raft in the river upstream and the Colorado River.

The internationally famous Grand Canyon Skywalk is located here. This attraction is a beautiful glass bridge design that allows you to walk 70 feet beyond the edge as you rise 4,000 meters above the river. ” Do not watch if you are prone to vertigo.

exotic activities here include a helicopter flight to a cattle ranch, mountain biking, adventure 4×4 Hummer, and horseback riding. One of my favorite things to do in the West Bank is the Hoover Dam for a day trip floating calm waters in Willow Beach.

The South Rim is more relaxed compared to the West Coast. What it lacks in the “feel” it is in all its natural splendor. That section of the national park rangers who even refer to the “real” canyon.

No helicopter rides to the base of the southern shore. To access the database, you are hiking. That said, air systems are excellent here. The helicopter ride from Tusayan goes directly to the center of the Dragon Corridor, the widest, the deepest section of the Grand Canyon, while air travel to cover the South, East, North and tires.

There is also a fantastic day trip to the Grand Canyon on a raft, which runs from April to November. The options include taking a bus or plane in Page, Arizona, then transferred to a raft. Is a smooth journey the water so there is no running water. Four-and more widely accepted.

The hiking trails on the southern edge are incredible. Bright Angel, South Kaibab, and coastal routes to the top most in demand. For points of view, go to Mather Point, Yaki Point and Hopi Point. Most tours include visits to these places. />
Where is your starting point?

Grand Canyon West is only 120 miles from Las Vegas. Helicopters, planes and coaches can make the trip in 45 minutes, 25 minutes and 2.5 hours, respectively. The South Rim is far from the helicopters Vegas. Your options are on the plane or car.

want to take the flight of 45 minutes by plane from Las Vegas to the south coast. It’s fast, comfortable, and one of the largest deals in the market. The coach is very affordable, but the training time is unidirectional and 5.5 hours total travel time is a huge 15 hours.

Phoenix and Sedona tourists can drive to the south shore in 4 hours and 2 hours respectively. There’s the car, plane, helicopter tours of these places, but it is cheaper to drive yourself and make an aerial tour of the Grand Canyon Airport in Tusayan. / >
How long to you?

trip to Grand Canyon West from Las Vegas day trips are ideal. The longest tour is one day. Air travel only about 4 hours, and includes hotel pickup and drop. The soil Canyon South Rim Drive is 15 hours at least, so I call for air transport, as cooking in the strip of Las Vegas in time for their evening plans. Tours from northern Arizona are day trips. I often tell people to book a room inside the park and spend the night. Easier said than done because the National Park hotels are usually booked a year in advance. />
How can you go?

Far South and West ass bus travel more affordable and include many accessories, such as in calm water rafting, horseback passes glass bridge and chopper. Tours by air are more expensive, but also see the Grand Canyon in less time. I figure that you see on a helicopter ride for half an hour is equal to a few days in the field. During the aerial view are exceptional.

Let’s see the canyon!

Grand Canyon visits are loaded with emotion and beauty. The two best places are the Grand Canyon West and the West Bank. The challenge is that the rim to visit. If you start from Las Vegas, the west side is closer to your choice. However, if your heart is set on the south coast, take the plane flight 45 minutes. I recommend the southern coast of passengers departing from Phoenix and Sedona. The key to being sure to get the break of your dreams is very reserved in advance via the Internet. Follow this approach and have the Grand Canyon trip, at a decent price.

The museum is part of the Naval Air Station at Pensacola and contains more than 150 historic aircraft as well as thousands of artifacts representing the history of the air services of the Navy, Marine Corps and the Coast Guard. In addition the museum also contains memorabilia representing nearly a century of Naval Aviation history, including personal mementos from historic battles, flight logs, vintage equipment and flight clothing

If you are visiting during the months of March through November you can watch the aerial exploits of the Blue Angels. The practice sessions of the Blue Angels take place on most Tuesday and Wednesday mornings of these months and are followed by autograph sessions that are sure to be a hit with your kids.

Regardless of when you visit, the museum has plenty of exhibits that will make you appreciate the 100 year history of naval aviation. Special exhibits include Faces of Aviation History, Medal of Honor, Enlisted Pilots, P. O. W. Exhibit, Hall of Honor, Then and Now Frontiers of Aviation History , Lighter than Air, WWI, Space, World War II and the Age of Carriers and several others.

Admission to the museum’s thrilling aerial simulators and its huge seven storey IMAX however are not free, but you will be happy to know that the fees are quite reasonable and affordable.

The IMAX Theater at the museum has a number of films that are entertaining, thrilling and educational at the same time, as well as visually awesome when viewed on the huge screen. Films on the bill include “Straight Up! Helicopters in Action,” “The Magic of Flight,” “Grand Canyon Adventure – River at Risk,” and “Fighter Pilot. ” The museum describes the Fighter Pilot film as the “closest to air combat you can get without joining the military!” Admission to the IMAX Theater costs $8. 00 with discounts for seniors, military personnel and others.

The flight simulators are another stand-out item at the museum. The museum has two flight simulators. There is the Motion Based Simulator which is a five minute ride that combines high definition audio-visual images, surround sound and a moving simulator capsule that lets you and 14 other passengers experience movement in six directions as well as horizontal rolls, longitudinal pitches and vertical climbs.

The motion based simulator offers two options, a Blue Angels simulation on a high speed low-level flight with high-performance turns and maneuvers, and a take-off from an aircraft carrier in a Desert Storm simulation that includes a battle in the Iraqi desert.

The other simulator is the Top Gun Air Combat Simulator which is the actual two person simulator that was used to train the pilots of the Navy F-14 Tomcat. In this simulator you can test your flying skills, engage in a dog fight and land on an aircraft carrier.

The c-172/c-182 3 seater,c-206 5 seater, seneca piper 34  5 seater, baron 55  five seater can land and take off confortably . We have trees sorrounding the airstrip and with high attitude. Mara shikar airstrip serves  david livingstone lodge but also tricky like siana springs therefore we recommend light aircraft like the cesssna 172/182,c-206 and with caravan same restrictions as siana springs but we prefer for groups to use ngerende aistrip which is half an hour drive. Ngerende airstrip serves mara safari club and david livingstone, kicheche camp and  mara buffalo. Please mara buffalo is a private airstrip owned by african safari club landing is permitted upon formal request or during emergency. There mara serena aistrip which serves mara serena lodge and it is a well maintained aistrip. Once you come to know about this then it is not easier to alight at a wrong airstrip thinking you have reached as some of the scheduled flights are in ahurry dropping and picking passengers in the mara targetting to beat the schedule. Also make sure your bag is marked the aistrip and the hotel you are visiting if not you might reach your destination without it,then the hassle of starting to call each loddge to allocate your lost  bag . Now here are ten useful tips of advice from a truck accident lawyer to follow if you have been in an accident. You can also learn more about how to handle a truck accident in National City, or any city, by calling the Law Offices of R. Sebastian Gibson at any of the numbers which can be found on our website at http://www. SebastianGibsonLaw. com  and learning how we can assist you.

Obviously, if you have had an accident, and you are reading all of this advice, it’s probably been at least a few days since the accident. However, if it’s only been a few hours or if you ever have another accident, here’s what you should do the next time from the start.

First, take a look around and determine if you or anyone, are hurt. If so, taking steps like trying to prevent further injury or loss of blood are the most important thing you can do. Even if some other driver caused you to be injured, it’s just good manners to help the other driver if they are hurt. They may even be so thankful that they admit their fault to you. The worst thing you can do is get angry or start a fight.

Second, make sure everyone is safe from being injured further. If you are in the middle of traffic, and you are dizzy, sit down away from traffic. If your vehicle is a traffic hazard and you have accident warning devices like flares or triangles, put them out on the road to warn other drivers and get away from the car. Let the police an other emergency personnel investigate the scene with the vehicles in place and move them more safely at a later point.

Third, call the police. Accident reports are extremely helpful if the police will do such a report. Let the police know you are injured immediately. Answer the police questions honestly. But if you are dazed or confused, let them know you need medical treatment and answer only what you feel sure about. Remember, your statements can and will be used against you if you admit fault, and it will be too late and too fishy to later say you didn’t know what you were saying at the scene. Police know that your best recollection is immediately after an accident.

Fourth, get the other driver’s information including their names, addresses, driver’s license numbers, make and model of their vehicles, license plate numbers, and their insurance company name and policy number. If there are witnesses, get their names, addresses and telephone numbers as well. If the other driver makes any admissions of fault, write those down as well.

Fifth, if you have a camera on your cell phone or in the car and you aren’t too injured, take some photos of the vehicles and the scene. If you can’t do it right away, do it after you are released from the hospital.

Sixth, if you are hurt, obtain medical treatment. Don’t decline the ambulance or hospital examination to save your insurance company money or to be stoic. Take your valuables out of your car if you can and get checked out at the hospital. If you are not hurt, don’t get treatment you don’t need. However, remember, after an accident, you may feel a rush of adrenaline that causes you to only start feeling symptoms of pain a few hours later. If you have a health plan that requires you to obtain permission first, call them and find out where you are allowed to seek treatment.

Seventh, call a good truck accident lawyer as soon as you have had your initial treatment, so the attorney can gather other important evidence and prevent the insurance company from taking advantage of you and obtaining such things as recorded statements that you feel fine, when many of your symptoms have yet to manifest themselves. A good truck accident lawyer can save you from making a great deal of mistakes and can shoulder much of the hassle of knowing what to do about car repairs, car rentals, medical treatment, witness statements and the like. If you think you will save money by not having an attorney, think again. A good truck accident lawyer can almost always obtain much higher settlements, obtain reductions of medical bills and insurance liens and prevent you from making costly mistakes. Also, most truck accident attorneys advance costs of obtaining police reports, medical records and the like and are paid and reimbursed for these costs only out of any settlement.

Eight, you will need to report the accident to your insurance company, but since they will want to take a recorded statement from you, just like any other driver’s insurance company, it’s good advice to retain an attorney first. And if the other driver did not have insurance, remember that it is your own insurance company that will be your adversary. You will also need to report the accident to the Department of Motor Vehicles and your lawyer can give you the form for this.

Ninth, do not agree to settle your claim privately with the person at fault for the accident. This almost never works out to your advantage. Don’t agree not to call the police. Police reports that determine the fault for an accident are golden. Your agreement to not involve the police only affords an opportunity for the other driver to change his story and blame you when the police will no longer investigate the accident.

Tenth, don’t pay a traffic ticket without a fight if you weren’t at fault or agree to accept a small payment for your vehicle repairs without knowing that the amount will in fact cover the cost of all the repairs.

If you’ve had a truck accident in National City, Lemon Grove, Imperial Beach, Coronado, Spring Valley, San Diego, La Mesa, National City, Carlsbad, Oceanside, La Jolla, Del Mar, Escondido, Chula Vista, El Cajon, Vista, San Marcos, or anywhere in Southern California, we have the knowledge and resources to be your San Diego Truck Accident Lawyer and your National City Truck Accident Attorney. Be sure to hire a California law firm with auto, motorcycle, truck, bicycle, pedestrian, car, bus, train, boat and airplane accident experience, wrongful death experience and insurance law expertise who can ensure you are properly represented and get the compensation you deserve.

Visiting America’s Top National Parks

Living here in America, we have the opportunity to visit hundreds of national parks each year. Some are parks that you can drive through in a day, and others may take a few days to take in all the sights. Below are the top five national parks that have been visited in the past year across the U. S. Great Smoky Mountains National ParkIn 2008, over 9 million tourists visited the park  in Gatlinburg, Tennessee to tour the “hiker’s paradise”. When you can visit nature and enjoy wildlife from bears to salamanders for FREE, is it no wonder that so many people got out to visit the park. One of the best places to visit is Cade’s Cove. This is a “U”-shaped, eleven mile, one lane and one way road situated within the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Although it is a short distance, it is possible to take up to three hours to travel. When wildlife is sighted, like a bear, which is common, the line of cars stops to admire the cute but very dangerous bear. It is only when the bear moves on that the cars continue on. There are many signs posted and travelers are warned to stay inside their cars, because the bears are very prevalent and dangerous. As travelers are working their way through the cove they will enjoy some of the most beautiful views in this part of the Appalachian Mountains. Great Smoky allows for many diverse hiking trails. Visitors can hike to the rock summit of Chimney Tops and climb to Clingmans Dome where they will reach the highest point along the Appalachian Trail. The park also boasts a lot of historic charm as well, boasting several pioneer homes and several historic churches. Cade’s Cove is so popular that it stands only second in touristry to Las Vegas. Grand Canyon National ParkAs one traveler has stated, “There are probably 1,000 or more Grand Canyon reviews, and a bazillion Grand Canyon pictures, but you cannot do justice to the scenery with words or photos…this is something you really have to see for yourself. “We all have sites that are on our checklist that we must see in our lifetime. This list may include the Statue of Liberty, Mr. Rushmore, Hawaii, Yellowstone, and many other American treasures. and the Grand Canyon in Grand Canyon,  Arizona is no exception to this. Visiting the Canyon at the end of September and during the early morning hours is the best time to see the sights. Not only do you not have to compete for a parking space and viewing space, but the Canyon is literally alive at this time. Wildlife are waking up and are active, the fresh scent of nature lingers in the air, and you are in a solitary place.   The Colorado River lingers at the bottom of the canyon and it is hard to comprehend that such a small River, in comparison, carved out such a tremendous canyon. The best place to explore what the Canyon truly has to offer is along the North Rim. This is where it is more remote and rugged, and you may even get the chance to ride a mule along a trail. There are also several hiking trails to take advantage of. One in particular is Bright Angel Trail. You will have the opportunity to truly test your skills and see native animals in their natual habitats. If exploring nature from up above is more your style, take advantage of a Papillon Helicopter Tour. This will undoubtedly be a once in a lifetime experience being able to see the entire panorama of the Canyon. Yosemite National ParkThere are many reasons to visit Yosemite in California. Some of them being; “shortly after entering the park, all concerns melt away”, “this place is so beautiful it is nearly surreal”,  and because many call it “the gem of the U. S. National Park system”. Yosemite is one of the most visited national parks in the U. S. , due not only to its proximity to L. A. , but because it boasts wonderful scenery and limitless activities available to all age levels and skill levels. As you drive through the main passageway through the park, you will have the opportunity to experience a whole host of views. You will take in beautiful waterfalls, cliffs, mountains, rivers, and rock work to marvel at as you drive past. Along with many national parks, this drive may be a little nervewracking, seeing as how one side has a sharp drop-off and a guard rail and the other side hugs the cliff directly. To unwind after this stressful drive, take an easy hike up to Bridal Veil Falls that leads you right up to the base of the waterfall. It’s rumored that if, while standing at the base of the waterfall, the mist hits you, you will find your true love. Along the drive you will have the chance to drive across a beautiful river, spot campers having a picnic at one of the many tables, and taking advantage of the bridge spanning the river and jumping in for a swim. Olympic National ParkCome visit this real-life “wonderland”, with its beaches, mountains, and forests available everywhere you turn. Olympic National Park located close to Port Angeles in Washington is almost one million acres in size, a huge wilderness, and has no roads that go directly through the middle of it. To experience the park to its fullest, it is essential to get out of the car and experiene nature on foot. The park ranges from the Olympic Mountains to Washington’s wilderness coast. With such diversity, the park offers visitors anything and everything to see. It also includes the only true termerpate rainforest in the lower 48 states. The park is divided into 13 areas, all accessible from little spur roads and entrances along the highway. The entrance fee is about $10 per vehicle and the pass is good in all 13 areas. To further entice the outdoor enthusiast, there are 16 campgrounds and over 600 miles of trails to explore. Yellowstone National ParkCome visit the world’s original national park  in Ashton, Idaho encircled in a maze of thermal geysers and hot springs. You’ll be surrounded by wildlife you’ve never seen before, and you will be up close and personal. Yellowstone is one of the most memorable parks you’ll ever visit. The park is the result of vast volcanic action, but the only recent volcanic activity is the thermals that surround the park. The thermals are created by rain and melting snow that seep down into the ground until it hits the hot magma where it’s heated to boiling temperatures, then works its way up to the surface as an occasional outburst, as a geyser or in a continuous flow. Old Faithful is the park’s most famous geyser. It gets its name from its predictability. It erupts pretty predictably, every 92 minutes, and has been doing this for decades. You have to be early to this show, though, because it gets quite crowded, and the geyser is sometimes a few minutes early or late. Although these are just five of the parks that surround us, they are definitely must sees. But, don’t just visit these parks, make sure to get around to all the national parks that you can. It is truly enriching and gives you an appreciation for the wonderful world around us.

Top 10 Reasons Why Conservatives Are Weaker On National Security

“You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you cannot fool all of the people all of the time,” is a quote often attributed to Abraham Lincoln.   Yet, as wise a man as our 16th President was, apparently ex-mayor of New York Rudy Giuliani disputes this saying and believes that all of the people can be fooled all of the time.   Recently in an interview with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos, Giuliani said of the December 25, 2009, attempted terrorist attack on Northwest Airlines Flight 253 by Nigerian born Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab:  “What he [Obama] should be doing is following the right things that Bush did – one of the right things he did was treat this as a war on terror.   We had no domestic attacks under Bush. ” Perhaps “Mr. 9/11” was not trying to fool all of the people.   Maybe he was genuinely amnesiac (and so too might Stephanopoulos have been since he did not challenge Giuliani’s bizarre statement).   Giuliani apparently forgot that 9/11 and the attempt by Richard Reid – the shoe bomber – to blow up American Airlines Flight 63 both happened on Bush’s watch

I don’t think most people are amnesiac when it comes to the biggest attack ever to have occurred on US soil.   I do believe Giuliani was trying to capitalize on the false idea that most people have that conservatives are strong on national security – and by extension the war on terrorism – and that liberals are weak.   However, it wasn’t the strange omission of 9/11 that most struck me about Rudy’s statement; it was the recommendation that Obama should somehow follow Bush’s example on fighting terrorism.   I decided to examine what some of those right things G. W. Bush and his conservative cohorts did or did not do prior to and after the most calamitous act of terrorism ever to have occurred on American soil.   These are my top ten reasons why Rudy and company should pipe down when trying to portray the failed underwear bomber incident as a sign of Obama’s weakness on terror.   Paul Schaeffer play some delusional background music for us.

1.     The Bush Administration failed to act upon the (PDB) presidential daily briefing of August 6, 2001 which warned of an eminent attack by Al Qaeda upon the US.   Seventeen days later George Tenet, former director of the CIA, was briefed on the report by the FBI that Zacarias Moussaoui had been taking flying lessons – in a 747 trainer.

2.     The Bush Administration ignored warnings in January 2001 from the outgoing Clinton national security team that Al Qaeda and its sleeper cells in the U. S. were the major security threat facing the U. S.

3.     Bush ignored the Hart-Rudman Commission set up by Clinton by Newt Gingrich (R-GA), Gary Hart (D-CO0 and Warren Rudman (R-NH).   The commission’s final report issued in January 2001 warned of large-scale terrorist attacks on American soil, and specifically of “a weapon of mass destruction in a high-rise building. ”

4.     The Bush Administration failed to take action against the Taliban regime in Afghanistan even after determining in February 2001 that Al Qaeda was responsible for the October 2000 attack on the USS Cole.

5.     Bush announced a New Office of National Preparedness for Terrorism within FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) but cut FEMA’s Budget by $200 million.

6.     The Bush Administration continued to oppose for more than a year any independent investigation of the intelligence failures that preceded 9/11.   President Obama, being “Mr. The Buck Stops Here” that he is, not only ordered such a review, but has accepted full responsibility for security weaknesses that may have lead up to this attempt at a terrorist attack.

7.     In the summer of 2002, the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works approved by 19-0 a bill to tough security standards at chemical plants.   The chemical industry lobbied Republicans to reject it, and the White House let the bill die.

8.     In March 2002 Energy Secretary Spencer Abraham asked the Bush Administration for $380 million to protect nuclear weapons facilities.   The White House approved $26 million of Abraham’s request.

9.     During the Bush Administration, The Coast Guard estimated it would cost $4. 5 billion to secure U. S. seaports.   In the year and half following 9/11, they received just $318 million.

10.     The INS (Immigration and Naturalization Service) a year and a half after 9/11 had 14 agents to track down 1,200 illegal immigrants from countries were Al Qaeda was active.   Bush turned down $52 million request to hire more agents.

I wondered as I watched Rudy, and listened to other conservatives, if any of these facts rang a bell.   I wondered where this chorus of conservative voices was in opposing these actions which frustrated the war on terrorism and weakened American’s security under G. W. Bush.   I wonder if they really want Obama to be more Bushian in the strategies he employs in war on terror.   I wonder if they will continue on in defiance of Abraham Lincoln’s aphorism.   They are always boasting that Lincoln was a Republican.   Perhaps they should heed that great Republican’s words about the uselessness of trying to continue to misshape people’s perceptions about reality.

Did you know there are three different species of Giraffes and two for the Rhinoceros? If not then follow this story keenly,

(1) GIRAFFES

They are classified in three species namely, MASAI GIRAFFE, RETICULATED GIRAFFE AND ROTHSCHILDS GIRAFFE.

(A) MASAI GIRAFFE

As the world’s tallest animal, reaching height over 5m, the giraffe is unmistakeable. The immense neck, sloping body and long legs and easy identification. The coat pattern is that of irregular brown blotches on a yellow-buff background. The coat co lour of the males has a tendency to darken with age. The under parts are light with faint blotches and spots. A mane of stiff hair extends from the nape, down the neck of the shoulders. The tail is long and thin terminating in an abundance of long black hair. The amount and size of horns is very variable but normally they possess a principle pair on the upper forehead and signs of a much smaller pair on the crown. In addition they often have a single knob of horn in the centre of the lower forehead. The horns are skin covered with tufts of hair at the tips in some females and younger animals. Females are smaller than males.

An inhabitant of bush and lightly wooded regions south of the Sahara, where they feed by browsing to a height denied to all other herbivores. They will strip leaves and shoots from ven the thorniest trees and bushes with ease, by use of prehensile lips and a very long 45cm tongue. They remain active for much of the day, seeking shade during hot midday period. They are found in herds of between 6-12 animals on average. They need to drink every 2-3 days when water is available and during the dry season they are seldom too far from a permanent source they will disperse over a much wider during the rains. In order to drink they have to splay out the forelegs and it is at these times they are most susceptible attack by Lions. They walk with a slow amble moving both legs of the same. Side of the body together, this is known as pacing and is quite unusual among animals. When they run or gallop they give the impression of slow motion but are capable of speeds up to 60 km/h.

(B) RETICULATED GIRAFFE

A sub-species of Masai Giraffe. The coat pattern of this sub-species is very striking, crisp, liver-coloured geometric patches, conspicuously defined by narrow white times running between them, produces a crazy paving appearance. These markings become paler on the inner flanks, legs and under parts. The coat colour of the male has a tendency to darken with age. Females are smaller than males. A distribution overlap brings Reticulated Giraffes into contact with Masai Giraffes resulting in a variety of hybrid types within certain areas. An inhabitant of dry bush country in North-Eastern Kenya, particularly in Samburu Game Reserve and into Somalia.

( C)  ROTHSCHILDS  GIRAFF

A sub-species of Masai Giraffes . The coat pattern of this sub-species is similar to that of the Reticulated Giraffe but with the crazing paving effect less well defined. There are the knees or hocks, these areas being almost pure white. The body patterning, although fainter, does extend to the inner flanks, upper legs and under parts. Females are smaller than males.

An inhabitant of bush and lightly wooded areas of Western Kenya. Afine herd of Rothschild’s Giraffe can be found in the Lake Nakuru National Park in Kenya.

(2) RHINOCEROS.

There are two species of Rhinoceros as below,

(a) Black Rhinoceros,

A relic of prehistoric times the rhinoceros is almost unmistakable. The black Rhino is distinguished from the slightly larger White Rhino by the narrow mouth and prehensile upper lip. The head is large and carries two horns, the larger front horn measuring on average 60cm although individuals  with a front  horn over twice that length have been recorded. The ears are oval and tipped with tufts of dark hair. The eyes are small and the eye sight poor, but the senses of smell and hearing are very acute. The huge body is covered with a thick hide of grey skin although due to the rhino’s predilection for wallowing in mud, their coloration can appear very variable. The tail is short and tipped with stiff hairs in spite of their bulk the Black Rhino is very maneuverable and capable of a top speed 50km/h.

The distribution of this species has been much reduced in the past 25 years as a result of increased poaching. They favour areas of dry bushy savannah and lightly wooded regions. In most areas they survive by browsing leaves and shoots from bushes, trees, although the population inhabiting the Ngorongoro crater in Tanzania grazes regularly due to lack of suitable browse. They feed mainly in the early morning and ate afternoon, seeking shade or a mud wallow during the hottest midday period. Although they are capable of surviving for several days without water they will drink and wallow daily when possible, often traveling many kilometers t an available source. During periods of drought they will often dig for water in dried up river beds by use of their forelegs. Rhinos are solitary animals although females are usually accompanied by their most recent off springs.

(b) White Rhinoceros

The White Rhino is the worlds second largest land mammal-the Elephant being the largest. The animals name has nothing  whatever to do with colour , but word ‘weit’ meaning wide and refers to the shape of the mouth this being the two African species. For bigger & heavier than the Black Rhino the head is large , square-shapped and carries two horns. The front harn is larger of the two, averaging 60cm in length, the rear horn is shorter and thicker. The ears are large and oval in shape, the eyes are small and the eyesight is poor. The huge body is covered with a thick hide of pole grey skin. The tail is short terminating with stiff hairs.

Several attempts to reintroduce this species into East Africa National Parks have been undertaken in recent times, but most of the introduced animals subsequently fallen to poachers guns and snares. Hopefully, the latest introduction of seventeen animals from South Africa into Kenya’s Lake Nakuru National Park will fare better, thereby securing the long-term future of the species in East Africa. They feed throughout the day and night ,but usually seek shelter from the hot midday sun. They will drink several times a day if water is readily available but during the dry season they can subsist by drinking every 3-4 days. In spite of their bulk they are surprisingly quick and manoeuurable.

There are more stories on Reptiles, Mammals, Trees & Flowers, Insect, which you will learn different types of species and them characteristics.
